Glarry GST3 Electric Guitar Review 2023 Ultra Cheap, But Is It Worth It?
Although the pickups are cheap you can get an okay dirty blues sound out of them. Out-of-the-box the Glarry GTL feels rough and cheap. You really need to understand that to make a guitar at this price point every component needs to be cheap.
If you’re willing to replace the bridge, neck, and pickups, then the Glarry GST3 is for you. This has been the story for cheap-o guitars for decades. One had to spend some decent dough to get a playable guitar. I recently purchased one of their higher end guitars. Upon receipt I noticed there was a few quality control issues with the guitar. I let customer service know of the specific issues and they handled the situation very very well to my satisfaction.
It also has factories in Indonesia and China. Problems with these guitars are with quality control and cheap parts. Let’s be honest, these instrument are well under the $100.00 mark. One gets what one pays for but in this case, I kinda like what I got for this $51.99 GST . The out of the box Glarry GST guitar however needs work so keep your expectations realistic. With some time, effort and understanding of the from the factory guitar, there’s no reason why it can’t be loved and handed down from generation to generation.
Lastly, the tuning is just not stable enough to play the GST3 on stage. It took awhile to get it in tune and it didn’t last long after some bends and hard hit barre chords. While the included Whammy bar is a nice feature, it throws the guitar out of tune almost instantly thanks to a cheap, thin bridge block. There are several quick fixes that can be done to improve playability, and this guitar isn’t a totally lost cause, especially considering the price. The playability of this guitar is very much tied to the construction, and has both good and bad features.
Buy one and you’ll end up with a shit guitar that still needs upgrading… So if these are ultimately very much the same build quality as Affinity, then they could be a great bargain. Glarry has been around for about three years, sells online direct to customers , and provides a decent selection of acoustic and electric guitar and basses at amazingly good prices. This could be because the products are made in China . However, before Glarry, the quality of the budget-priced guitars coming from China was atrocious. My friends and I have bought several glarry electric basses and we think glarry is hands down the best electric bass under $200. It felt like a bit of a struggle to get it to do what I wanted. It’s a combination of all the cheap components. It might seem silly since sanding a neck is easy, but this one infuriated me. The neck was so rough I can’t believe they would sell a guitar aimed at beginners with a neck like this. In the video I mentioned they probably only sanded to around 200 grit, but I really doubt they sanded higher than around 100 grit. After I hit it with 320 grit for ~5 minutes it was nice.
Hey Senor Glarry, the guitar got here after about a week and the color was Right on. Every thing just flowed together after a quick release of neck tension. I just wish you guys had a local store, so I could buy the short bass with cash. I just think there’s a point at which you can go too cheap. Kind of like how you get diminishing returns as you spend more money on a guitar.
